Safety Coordinator

Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay: $21-$24/hr DOE
Summary
The Safety Coordinator supports the EHS Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA, Federal OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. This role promotes a safe, healthy work environment across the San Fernando, Pacoima, and Los Angeles facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in updating and maintaining safety documentation (JSAs, SOPs, policies).
Conduct safety inspections for equipment, guarding, and facility conditions.
Support delivery of safety training on new procedures and programs.
Help implement key safety programs: HazCom, PIT, Hearing Conservation, PPE, Fall Protection, LOTO, and others.
Assist with incident investigations and follow-up corrective actions.
Perform weekly and monthly emergency equipment inspections (fire extinguishers, first aid, eyewash/shower).
Support environmental compliance, including AQMD, Stormwater, Wastewater, and CARB permits and reporting.
Maintain SDS records for maintenance and sanitation chemicals.
Enter production areas to monitor hazards, equipment, noise, and employee practices.
Assist Corporate Trainer with onboarding safety training.
Perform data entry and maintain compliance records.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure adherence to EHS policies.
Follow company guidelines related to GMPs, HACCP, food safety, and sanitation.
Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's in Occupational Safety & Health or related field preferred.
Minimum 1 year of hands-on EHS experience.
Knowledge of Cal/OSHA, OSHA, EPA regulations, and MS Office.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Valid CA driver's license with acceptable driving record; ability to travel between facilities as needed.
Ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, and work in production/warehouse environments.
